I’ve been a movie lover for as long as I can remember. My father loved movies (especially horror films!) and he passed his love of them on to me much to my mother’s distress. When I was just a kid, my dad and I spent many weekends watching movies together on our old black & white TV and every Saturday night my dad would take my mom and I to the local drive-in to see a double feature.
I grew up on a steady diet of Horror films, James Bond, spaghetti westerns, American musicals, Japanese monster movies and Hong Kong kung fu flicks. As I got older my interest in cinema expanded into areas like Italian Neorealism and French, British & Japanese New Wave. I’ve always had a special fondness for 60s and 70s era films so that’s what I’ll be focusing on in this blog.
When I started attending college in the late 80s I focused on film studies, but due to various circumstances I left college before graduating and started working full-time. Since then I’ve occasionally dabbled in freelance writing for small press magazines like Propaganda, Comic Culture, Morbid Outlook and Fashion Doll Quarterly while spending my free time taking photos, making art, reading books and watching lots of movies.
I don’t waste time writing about movies I hate even though there are plenty. Life is too short and there are not enough hours in the day for me to write about the movies I love. I would rather spend my time writing about little seen gems, as well as actors and directors who I adore in an effort to expand their audiences.
Simply put, I created this blog because I like writing about the movies I watch and I enjoy sharing my passion for cinema with others. Thanks for visiting and I hope you’ll enjoy my random ramblings about the movies I love and the people who make them.
