Mark, do you mean the Hotwax Special book/CD released in 2006? If so, yes I do have that and it’s terrific! The Hotwax books and CDs are all really amazing and worth picking up if you can afford them.

I was lucky to be in Tokyo in late 2005 when they first started releasing stuff so I was able to grab a bunch of their early pressings and I love them all, but the pinky violence book is one of my favorites. I also recommend ordering from CD Japan. Depending on where you’re located the shipping can be cheaper there.

Did you catch the Japanese book about this genre, QUEEN OF JAPANESE MOVIE? It’s loaded with colour posters and photos, and it’s half in English, and there’s a CD of music from the films.
There’s a few left at Movie Grooves…

I had been holding back on buying DELINQUENT GIRL BOSS: BLOSSOMING NIGHT DREAM, for first one reason then another; but, after reading your comments..and seeing the screen captures…I have decided to buy it RIGHT NOW!

I should know better than to check into CINEBEATS, Kimberly– every time I come here I find out about something else I need to see. My infatuation with Pinky Violence is well known, and I’m also a huge fan of the Kinji Fukasaku flicks you mentioned and I’d love to see what his D.P. can do with Reiko Oshida, so BLOSSOMING NIGHT DREAMS is an obvious must for me. Keep the cool comin’.

Thanks a lot Keith! The movie is very cool and lovely to look at, but it’s also rather dark. I think you’d find a lot to like about it.

Sex and Fury is an amazing looking film and I’m glad you enjoyed it. I tend to prefer the “gang girl” pinky violence films with modern settings myself, but Sex & Fury was really impressive. Norifumi Suzuki is a really interesting director who’s made a lot of good films.

This is a great article. This movie sounds really cool. I love the pictures from it. I’ve been trying to get more into 70’s films from Japan. What I’ve seen has really interested me. I actually watched Sex and Fury this weekend. I loved it. It was so awesome.
