Kobayashi doesn't get enough love from English speaking audiences and I'm sure most Americans and Brits have no idea who he is. Obviously this post didn't generate much interest but I'm glad you found it worthwhile. My best suggestion would be to get yourself an all-region DVD player if possible so you can watch US & Japanese DVDs. They can be a little pricey but they're well worth the investment.
